Has anyone ever run across this issue and resolved it?Ĭurious if anyone has considered what they will do after IT. I have done a lot of jobs over the years but IT has been the only office job I've had and I do like doing IT but I fear as I continue to age that I may not be able to. ds_store files but neither of those have fixed the problem. I have turned off the option to show thumbnails and turned off the creation of. As well, if the user is still in the folder and I access the folder through the server as a domain admin I cannot rename the folder because another program has the folder or a file within the folder open. If the user disconnects from the server and reconnects then Finder seems to drop the lock and the folder can be renamed. If the user does not enter the folder then it can be moved and renamed perfectly fine. The problem we're having though is once the user opens a folder and views a file or goes into a child of the folder then there is a lock (or something of the sort) placed on the parent folder so the folder cannot be renamed or moved. So the user is opening up the folders, entering the folder to locate the date the footage was taken (often opening a file from within the folder), and then renaming the folder like this: "20151020 - Project Name" We're trying to do a catalog of all our media files which includes renaming and creating folders based on their date created. The media team connects to the server using SMB. Our multimedia team however is completely Mac where the rest of the company is all Windows and all our server infrastructure is Windows Server. The media team has full control of the share through a security group. There is one share on the server specifically for our media team and nothing else on the box. I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 server that is a file server for our multimedia team.
